Madeline Briggs
Madeline was a descendant of an Italian immigrant family. She came from a large family of fifteen. They settled in the South End of Springfield, MA in the early 1900's when the city was growing rapidly with Italian and Irish people.

Madeline lost her mother to childbirth at a tender age of 42 years young and with that loss, her sisters along with one brother came together for their father and each other. This was where Madeline's foundation of family values, tradition and strength came from. Madeline learned from her sisters how to make homemade pasta, sauce,
Mugliazzo, Braciole, and breads. Madeline became quite the cook herself, using only the finest ingredients for that authentic taste.

When Madeline began her own family, she instilled these same basic values. Her husband, son, daughters and grandchildren were her life. She was as we say, "The Godmother" of us all. Madeline's passion for cooking was such an influence on myself, her grandson, there was a destined culinary path on the horizon. Her love of family and food were at times one in the same. This beloved mother, grandmother and aunt will be forever endured through the restaurant in name and in spirit.

As she always welcomed us into her heart and shared her passion for food, the restaurant  was named Madelines where her traditions have become mine, and now yours. This is why we feel YOU make the difference and why when your here, your like family.
